D.Y. Cameron fue un exitoso pintor y un muy influyente etcher. Estudió en la Escuela de Arte de Glasgow antes de unirse a clases de vida en la Real Academia Escocesa. Su trabajo fue aclamado en Edimburgo, Londres, Berlín y Munich. Durante la Primera Guerra Mundial, Cameron fue nombrado artista oficial de guerra al gobierno canadiense y en 1933 fue hecho el Rey '
