La Dama Tamil tocando el Swarbat de Raja Ravi Varma es una copia posterior del propio artista de una pintura pintada por primera vez en 1874. La pintura en 1874 fue exhibida en la Exposición de la Sociedad de Bellas Artes de Madras y posteriormente fue donada por el Maharaja de Travancore al Príncipe de Gales (el Rey Eduardo VII) durante este viaje a la India en 1875.
