Según notas de Helen Clay Frick, su madre Adelaide Frick llevaba este conjunto de la diseñadora francesa Gustave Beer a una recepción dada en la Casa Blanca por el presidente Theodore Roosevelt. El vestido está hecho de terciopelo de seda, tafeta y satinado, encaje de punta de aguja de Bruselas, cinta de tejido y hilo metálico de oro. Su estilo “S-curve” era la altura de la moda en ese momento, una mirada alcanzada usando un corset restrictivo. Gustave Beer nació en París en la Place Vendome desde 1905-1914. También vendió sus colecciones en hoteles de lujo durante la temporada turística.
