Se cree que este dibujo ha sido un estudio preparatorio para un mural. Aunque sirvió por primera vez como un pounce — sus líneas fueron apuradas con pequeños agujeros para permitir que la imagen se transfiriera a una pared— más tarde se reelaboró en un dibujo terminado por Sahib Ram, quien fortaleció sus contornos, desplegó áreas que deseaba cambiar, y cepilló la piel y la ropa de Krishna con lavados luminosos de acuarela. El dibujo se basa en una obra anterior del artista Sahib Ram que muestra a una chica bailante vestida como Krishna.
