Signed SALOMON KONINCK F. La pintura posiblemente representa el doble compromiso entre Duque Frederik (1471-1533), más tarde Frederik I de Dinamarca, y Anna de Brandenburgo (1487-1514), y Kurfurst Joachim I y Elisabeth, hija del Rey Hans. La pintura formaba parte de una serie de pinturas que mostraban grandes escenas de la historia danesa comissioned by Christian IV of Denmark for Kronborg Castle. Fue tomado como botín de guerra por Carl Gustaf Wrangel el 6 de septiembre de 1658. Varias de estas pinturas fueron tomadas deliberadamente por los suecos como un acto para privar a los daneses de su historia. Tres otras pinturas de esta serie también se pueden ver en el Castillo de Skokloster hoy.
