Clarissa Strozzi fue hija de Roberto Strozzi y Maddalena dei Medici, quien vivió en el exilio en Venecia de 1540 a 1542. Junto con el retrato de Ranuccio Farnese, este cuadro es el segundo retrato encantador del niño Titian pintado en 1542. Clarissa está alimentando a su perro pequeño, pero, como Ranuccio, está viendo algo que ocurre fuera de la foto. Esto de nuevo crea un sentido vivo del movimiento. El putti en el relieve enfatiza la vitalidad infantil de Clarissa.
