En este drama poderosamente compuesto, en el que la rodilla desnuda de Cristo parece casi proyectar en nuestro espacio, un atormentador se enfrenta hacia adentro —como nosotros, el espectador— mientras el otro mira hacia fuera. Estamos implicados por la asociación empática con una figura, la mirada dirigida de otra, y la proximidad física y psicológica de Cristo.
