Con este trabajo, es posible ver a Stevens acercarse a la abstracción. Esencialmente, disuelve el color y la forma en bloques audaces que dan una unidad visual a todo el trabajo, mientras aísla los campos de color individuales... mucho en la forma de Arshile Gorky y otros artistas abstractos que trabajan en Nueva York en la década de 1940. La paleta aquí es muy sutil y difiere mucho del trabajo naturalista que se ejecuta en el mismo período.
