Esta acuarela es un estudio para la pintura al óleo de Dove del mismo título (MMA 49.70.37). Dove típicamente trabajó sus arreglos de composición y esquemas de color en este medio, a pequeña escala, luego transfirió la imagen a un lienzo más grande por medio de un proyector-como "Linterna mágica" o una herramienta de copia llamada pantógrafo. Una comparación con la pintura Goat demuestra la adhesión del artista a su concepción original de la obra, con sólo alteraciones mínimas a sus formas y tonos.
