In all these traditions, from the ancient times, Indian musicians have developed and performed with traditional and indigenous musical instruments that suited the style. In addition, the instrument makers have chosen special materials that could make the instrumental music more melodious. Later on, many foreign traditions were added to it. The Indian musical instruments are broadly classified as Percussion instrument (Tabla, Dholak, Khol, Pakhwaj etc), Stringed instruments (Sitar, Sarod, Veena, Mridangam, Sarengi, Rabab etc) and Wind instrument (Flute, Sehnai etc).
