A founder member of the Society of Contemporary Artists in Calcutta, Sunil Das was known for his energetic charcoal drawings of horses and the bullfights he observed in Spain. The speed, power and energy of the animals were captured in his flawless sketches. He was conferred the prestigious Padma Shri in 2014.
