Après deux ans à l'École des Beaux-Arts de Paris, Antoine Bourdelle (1861-1929) est embauché en 1893 comme assistant dans l'atelier de son ami Rodin, qui domine la sculpture européenne à l'époque. Dans les années 1900-1905, progressivement se libérer de Rodin
