Anna Ancher dépeint souvent son environnement local, et c'est aussi local qu'il devient : Le poirier dans le petit jardin avant d'Anchers Hus. Le même poirier – un cultivar de Doyenne d'été – se trouve toujours dans le jardin avant d'Anchers Hus aujourd'hui plus de cent ans plus tard. Le poirier était un sujet Anna Ancher retourné à plusieurs reprises.
