Arthur Merric Bloomfield Boyd AC OBE est né à Murrumbeena, Victoria, Australie en 1920 et est décédé à Melbourne, Victoria en 1999. Boyd était peintre, potier et imprimeur et faisait partie d'une famille artistique. Boyd et sa famille ont vécu en Angleterre à partir de 1959 avant de retourner en Australie en 1971 et finalement s'établir dans une propriété appelée Bundonon sur la rivière Shoalhaven dans la région côtière sud-est de la Nouvelle-Galles du Sud. C'est l'une des nombreuses œuvres relatives à son temps à la propriété de Bundonon qu'il et sa femme Yvonne ont donné au peuple australien en 1993.
