Princesse de grand apprentissage et de beauté, Sainte Catherine d'Alexandrie (quatrième siècle) a été mise au défi d'un débat avec cinquante orateurs païens, tous convertis au christianisme. Ici, elle compte sur les points de sa dispute pour deux hommes qui portent des halos comme une indication de leur conversion par ses arguments (et futur martyre par l'empereur Maxentius). Deux donneurs minuscules portant les habitudes des terriers franciscains s'agenouillent à gauche. La peinture date d'environ 1380.
