Comme Vigée Le Brun le rappelait la comtesse Skavronskaya (1761–1829) : « Elle était complètement oisive toute la journée, elle n'avait aucune éducation, et sa conversation était tout à fait vide. Mais malgré tout cela, grâce à son beau visage et à sa douceur angélique, elle avait un charme incomparable. Dans ce magnifique portrait, la baby-sitter regarde un boîtier ovale qui a dû contenir un portrait miniature de son mari.
