Poniatowski (1732-1798), l'ancien roi polonais, avait été exilé à Saint-Pétersbourg. L'artiste appartenait à son cercle intérieur et manquait rarement ses dîners intimes. Elle démontre ici sa maîtrise des techniques illusoires nécessaires pour représenter les tissus : velours, fourrure, moiré et pelouse. Apparaissant dans toute sa splendeur, elle porte un manteau de velours rouge garni d'ermine et le ruban bleu de l'Ordre polonais de l'aigle blanc.
