Cette figure solide et puissante, avec le bras droit tiré en arrière, est armée pour frapper. Ici, Ernst Barlach capture un moment dans la guerre de classe entre paysans pauvres, bergers et mendiants et la domination du tsar russe. Cet esprit de révolte a abouti à la révolution russe de 1917, lorsque le gouvernement tsariste a été renversé et qu'un nouveau gouvernement du peuple, l'Union soviétique, a été établi.
