Venant à travers le Rye est souvent stupéfait parce que seulement six des seize chevaux sont supportant la sculpture, la figure à l'extrême gauche étant entièrement hors de la base. Ce groupe a été moulé en cinq pièces : quatre chevaux et des ensembles de cavaliers attachés à la base moulée séparément. La fixation utilisée, appelée épingle romaine, est assez forte pour supporter facilement le poids de cette paire de chevaux et de cavaliers. Remington a créé 22 sujets différents en bronze. À venir Par le Rye était la huitième sculpture.
