Ces deux grands panneaux de bois ont un format inhabituel. Les figures sont présentées en panneaux séparés contre un fond noir neutre, contrairement à sa coupe de bois de 1509 qui montre la scène dans un paysage. Ils sont reliés par l'Arbre de Connaissance qui est placé dans l'axe central et divisé entre les deux panneaux. La composition montre des parallèles frappants avec la célèbre peinture de Dürer de 1507 à Madrid.
