Ce bonnet de paille noir finement tissé dispose d'une haute couronne en forme d'œuf et d'un bord filé. Deux plumes d'autruche teintes d'un rose riche. Le grand magasin Henri Bendel, où ce chapeau a été acheté, a été fondé par son nom, un milliner originaire de Louisiane qui a déménagé à New York en 1895. Au cours du XXe siècle, le grand magasin a été l'un des premiers aux États-Unis à accueillir des designers célèbres, dont Coco Chanel et Ralph Lauren. Dans les années 1960, Andy Warhol était illustrateur au grand magasin.
