Pendant les mois d'été, des habitants bien nantis d'Istanbul ont fui la ville exiguë pour chercher un rafraîchissement sur les rives du Bosphore. Les femmes qui faisaient partie du harem du sultan et du grand visière au nom de parfois une partie des pique-niques et probablement Vanmour voulaient représenter une telle occasion. Hunkiar Iskêléci était un endroit bien connu sur le Bosphore où ils se sont rencontrés.
