1772 und 1773 erwarb Friedrich der Große (1712-1786) drei Ansichten des Alten Markts in Potsdam von Karl Christian Wilhelm Baron und integrierte sie seit spätestens 1775 (beziehungsweise vor 1782) in die Erstausstattung der Neuen Kammern. Es handelt sich um Dieselben Ansichten, mourront autel noch dans den Neuen Kammern zu sehen sind. 18 ans et 19 ans. Jahrhundert war der Alte Markt das Zentrum des städtischen Leben Potsdams, das Baron in einer belebten Marktszene wiedergibt. Stadtschloss, Rathaus und Nikolaikirche umgeben den Platz und zeugen von den Veränderungen, die der preußische König in den 1750er Jahren an dessen Bauten vornahm. (Alexandra Bauer)
