Ein Halbfigurenporträt: Bei dem Abgebildeten handelt es sich um den Gründungsdirektor des Bayerischen Gewerbemuseums Dr. Carl von Stegmann. 1869 kamer dans la position des Direktors. Rapide 20 Jahre später - 1888 - verließ er das Bayerische Gewerbemuseum, allerdings im Unfrieden. Das Porträt selbst wurde von Karl Jäger gemalt. Dieser War ein Radier, Genre-, Historien- und Bildnismaler. Er lehrte Zeichnen an der Kunstgewerbeschule Nürnberg nach Akt und Antike. Das Porträt wurde auf Leinwand gemalt und ist umrahmt von getreppten Profilleisten, dazwischen kunstvoll anneaux umlaufend, zwei Reihen sich überlappender Akanthus-Blätter.
