Le fan de Liu Deliu peint dans une étroite gamme de couleurs enky dépeint un écureuil précairement suspendu entre son but, un raisin succulent, et sa curiosité sur les intentions d'un insecte qui a éclairé sur cet objet. La vivacité de ce sujet a un charme évident. Dans son inscription Liu dit qu'il travaille dans le style de Lu Shouping (Lu Zhi, 1496–1576), un artiste Ming réputé pour ses observations sensibles transposées en croquis d'encre de fleurs et d'oiseaux. En utilisant l'animation, la couleur subtile et un format décoratif, Liu transforme un sujet d'intérêt pour les savants-artistes depuis le Yuan en une image populaire.
