Cet appareil a été utilisé en colorimétrie. Il mesure la différence de concentration entre deux bains de teinture. Il est composé d'un tube optique cylindrique relié à une paire de cylindres en verre se terminant par deux plateaux cylindriques en verre également supportés sur un support en verre rectangulaire inclinable. L'instrument se trouve sur une base rectangulaire en fonte.
