Paul Signac (1863-1935) est un peintre et un marin passionné. Il crée plusieurs peintures marines, parmi lesquelles il y a une série de vues sur le port de Saint-Tropez, où il s'installe en 1892. Sur cette peinture verticale, l'œil fixe d'abord la bouée rouge-orange vibrante, qui contraste avec le bleu profond de l'eau. Les reflets des bâtiments conduisent alors le spectateur
