Il piatto è decorato con lo stemma del disegno per lo stemma principe Eugenio di Savoia-Soissons (1663-1736), cugino del re Vittorio Amedeo II di Savoia, grande condottiero al servizio degli Assburgo, mécène e collezionista. Il disegno fu fornito alla bottega di Jiindz Il successo delle porcellane di importazione fu seguito dalle numrose ordinazioni di servizi con disegni forniti direttamente dalla committenza tramite la Compagnia delle Indie: queste porcellane, spesso contrassegnate da stemmi, sono note come Chine de commande. Un esempio prestigioso è il piatto con arme del (fig. III, n. 13). Nelle sue residentnze viennesi, nel Palazzo di Città e al Belvedere, sono documentate porcellane e mobili di provenienza orientale. Il piatto ere parte di un servizio, prodotto in una manifattura di Jingdezhen, forse nel periodo in cui il principe fu gouvernatore dei Paesi Bassi austriaci (1716-1724), et in stretto rapporto con la Compagnia delle Indie.
