D.Y. Cameron était un peintre à succès et un éther très influent. Il a étudié à la Glasgow School of Art avant de rejoindre des cours de vie à la Royal Scottish Academy. Son travail fut salué à Edimbourg, Londres, Berlin et Munich. Pendant la Première Guerre mondiale, Cameron est nommé artiste de guerre officiel du gouvernement canadien et, en 1933, il devient roi.
