Cette sculpture s'inspire du poème de John Keats, aussi appelé Lamia. Dans le poème, Lamia est une belle créature semblable à un serpent qui prend forme féminine pour gagner l'amour du mortel Lycius. Quand sa vraie nature est exposée à leur mariage, elle disparaît et son mari meurt. Frampton
