La composition de l'image, ouvrant sur un paysage, rappelle un type de portrait souvent utilisé par Titian et son atelier. La position de la Vierge, dont le corps inférieur est principalement au centre de l'image et dont le corps supérieur est tourné vers la moitié gauche, est un autre exemple du talent inhabituel de Titian pour la composition - il a toujours trouvé de nouvelles façons de développer des formules picturales à longue date. La grande figure de cette image peut être comparée aux sculptures de Sansovino et Michelangelo.
