Titian n'a jamais vu Francis Moi, le roi de France (1494-1547). Il réussit néanmoins à peindre un portrait impressionnant d'un souverain. Le modèle de son portrait était une médaille faite par Benvenuto Cellini, montrant le roi en profil. La posture dressée, le torse large et les vêtements magnifiques donnent au portrait un air regal. Le chapeau plat avec ses plumes délicates, avec ses cheveux fins, qui est brossé à travers son visage d'une manière aussi plumeuse, donnent une certaine légèreté au portrait royal autrement très fier.
