En juillet 1943, Xu Beihong a dirigé une partie du personnel de l'Académie d'Art de Chine lors d'un voyage dans le comté de Guan. Il a voyagé avec Li Ruinian, Fei Chengwu, Zhang Qianying, Sun Zongwei, Yu Feng et Liao Jingwen.
