Bien que longtemps attribuée à Fra Angelico, cette charmante Nativité est probablement par son élève Zanobi Strozzi, qui est particulièrement connu pour ses illuminations manuscrites. La scène est de la base (predella) d'un retable. Surtout l'arc d'anges, magnifiquement chorégraphié et habillé dans un tableau agréable de robes de couleur pastel rehaussé par des décorations en or, est typique du style essentiellement décoratif de Zanobi.
