The canvas, cut to the right, is one of the many variations of the very popular subject painted in the workshop of Titian. Venus with a Mirror had achieved a remarkable success so dozen of copies were made. None of the variants, now treasured in many museums and collections, can be undoubtably attributed to Titian, although the studies tend to identify the 'original one' exhibited at the National Gallery in Washington. The painting from the collection Franchetti, for a certain softness of constructiveness, typical for the artist, and impalpable lightweight curtain depiction, is attributable with great certainty to the the master himself.
