Artist: Louis Comfort Tiffany
találka: 1868
méret: 40 x 56 cm
Technika: Watercolor
It is testimony to Tiffany"s chief legacy as an interior decorator and a master of stained glass that the Museum owns over four hundred of his design drawings. However, before and during his career in the decorative arts he was a painter of considerable reputation, who, before the acquisition of this atmospheric watercolor, was represented by a single oil in the collection. Painted just after the foundation of the American Watercolor Society, the work confirms the artist"s close ties to Hudson River School painter Samuel Colman, the first president of the American Watercolor Society, who later worked with Tiffany in his decorating firm.
