Sydney John Bunney (1877-1928) is known for his accurateviews of Coventry streets and buildings. The Herbert has over five hundred ofBunney’s pencil and watercolour drawings of Coventry. This view of Spon Streetand Melbourne Road shows a part of Coventry that was not often painted by otherartists. Bunney often focuses on the red brick roofs and timber-framedbuildings covered in vigorous plant life.
