Questa Vergine con Bambino corrisponde al pannello centrale di un piccolo trittico. Il tema è comune nella pittura fiamminga ed è imitato nei laboratori dei grandi maestri che hanno prodotto questo e altri simili modelli di piccolo formato in vendita sul mercato internazionale, dove erano molto richiesti a causa della loro natura essenzialmente devozionale. Si tratta di un'opera importata dalle Fiandre e attribuita ad Adriaen Isenbrandt, pittore attivo a Bruges, una città dove si trovava il porto principale del commercio con Castiglia.
