Costruito da Adolphe Sax, il costruttore belgium noto per aver inventato il sassofono, questa tromba valvola si distingue dalla tromba regolare. Le valvole sono state aggiunte per aumentare l'agilità e per consentire al giocatore di suonare velocemente come un violino e un flauto. Nonostante gli sforzi di Adolphe Sax questo strumento non è stato in grado di conquistare il suo spazio.
