Due figure di osservazioni atmosferiche fatte a Guildford a Surrey, Inghilterra dal novembre 1883 al gennaio 1884 in seguito all'eruzione del vulcano su Krakatoa, l'isola nello Stretto di Sunda, Indonesia il 27 agosto 1883. Le figure sono descritte nel testo di accompagnamento da A H Swinton: figura 1 ‘Form of Sunset at Guildford. Dopo-glow come osservato dal 27 novembre 1883 fino all'11 gennaio 184 –‘; figura 2 ‘Dopo la luce. Gli anelli di colore che si formano in successione». Le figure appaiono sul rovescio di una lettera da A H Swinton di Binfield House, Waterden Road Guildford, 22 febbraio 1884, al meteorologo George James Symons FRS (1838-1900), redattore del rapporto della Royal Society sull'eruzione di Krakatoa.
