Isle of the Dead (in tedesco: Die Toteninsel) è la più famosa pittura dell'artista simbolista svizzero Arnold Böcklin (1827-1901).Le stampe erano molto popolari in Europa centrale all'inizio del XX secoloVladimir Nabokov ha osservato nel suo romanzo Despair che potrebbero essere "fondati in ogni casa di Berlino".Böcklin produsse diverse versioni del misterioso dipinto tra il 1880 e il 1886.La quinta versione fu commissionata nel 1886 dal Museum of Fine Arts di Lipsia, dove ancora pende.
