Un ritratto del fiore ancora vita pittore Jan van Huysum con tavolozza e spazzole nella mano sinistra e un disegno di una pianta fiorente nella sua mano destra. Il pittore si appoggia contro una balaustra su cui sono due disegni, la cima di un paesaggio. Van Huysum è vestito in una camicia bianca, aperta con sopra un lilla con camicia gialla. Un mantello viola profondo è a metà avvolto intorno alle spalle. Indossa una lunga parrucca bianca in polvere. Il pittore ha girato a sinistra ma guarda a destra l'immagine. Una tenda rossa a sinistra.
