Nel 1779 vennero commissionati venti di questi oggetti da parete dallo scultore parigino Jean-Louis Prieur. Erano destinati alla Grande Sala dell'Assemblea del Castello Reale di Varsavia, che era stata ristrutturata a gusto moderno dall'architetto francese Victor Louis su richiesta di Stanislaw-August Poniatowski, re di Polonia. A causa degli alti e bassi della storia polacca il loro ultimo destino rimane incerto, ma nel XIX secolo sono noti per essere stati nella raccolta del principe Anatole Demidoff al Palazzo Wisniowiecki in Polonia. Il Comte de Camondo ne comprò otto dal suo decoratore, M. Decour, per adornare la galleria Hall e Upper Ground Floor della sua dimora.
