Nel XVIII secolo, il re diede ad ogni principessa prussiana un servizio in porcellana realizzato dalla manifattura reale. Questi set consistevano in un servizio di cena, un servizio di dessert e un surtout tra cui vasi, ciotole di insalata, cesti e figurine. I piatti da dessert e altri oggetti da tavola realizzati per la principessa Louise, figlia della regina Luigia e del re Federico Guglielmo III, che sposò il principe Federico dei Paesi Bassi nel 1825, mostrano principalmente la vista di Potsdam e dei suoi dintorni. La giovane principessa, lontana da casa, poteva così mostrare ai suoi ospiti la bellezza dei paesaggi in cui era cresciuta.
