Ladislav Mednyánszky è stato il più iconico impressionista che lavora sul territorio slovacco. Visse per qualche tempo a Strážky, all'interno della vista degli Alti Tatra ed esplorava visivamente la campagna circostante, in particolare le curve del fiume Poprad nelle vicinanze. Le qualità malinconiche di questo luogo erano ben adatte al suo carattere solitario; poteva vagare per ore e studiare la mutabilità della natura, poi portarlo alla vita attraverso centinaia di sottili pennellate e sfumature di colore.
