Carl Spitzweg ha ripetuto questa immagine e ha avuto diversi titoli per diverse versioni. L'Astronomo e l'Astrologo sono titoli tradizionali ma in letteratura troviamo anche The Stargazer o The Starreader (Der Sterndeuter). Due uomini sono in una stanza in una torre con un grande telescopio e un globo a destra. Attraverso la finestra possiamo vedere che il cielo notturno è chiaro. L'uomo più grande sottile sullo sfondo indossa abiti lunghi ed è ornato di capelli facciali, i suoi occhiali molto sono spessi.
