Il finanziere e collezionista d'arte tedesco Everhard Jabach appare in compagnia della moglie Anna-Maria e dei loro quattro figli in uno dei più grandi ritratti di famiglia del XVII secolo. Anche se Le Brun presenta una rappresentazione arrestante di ogni sitter, gran parte della composizione è data a Jabach e gli emblemi dei suoi interessi culturali, come libri, sculture e strumenti matematici. L'artista stesso appare riflessa in uno specchio, immergendo il suo pennello nella vernice bianca sulla sua tavolozza. La tela di Le Brun deve essere stata eseguita intorno al 1660, che coincide anche con la costruzione della nuova casa parigina di Jabach.
