La composizione del dipinto è formale, ma i fiori stessi hanno una qualità naturale che riflette Mackintosh" si allontanano dai disegni stilizzati della sua prima carriera, come visto nelle sue decorazioni per Hill House (1904) e altri progetti architettonici.
