Ottimista della rivoluzione russa, Malevich pensò che la libertà fondata aprisse la porta ad una nuova società, dove il materialismo permise la libertà spirituale. Nei suoi sforzi, ha studiato fotografia aerea, e questo dipinto è uno sforzo far sembrare la piazza superiore come se stesse fluttuando sopra la tela. La tela stark su Bianco su Bianco non è privo di emozione o profondo sentimento artistico. Le pennellate di Malevich sono evidenti, e i contorni morbidi del quadrato impreciso rendono l'austerità bianca del dipinto sembrano più umani. Quando è stato creato, è stato uno dei dipinti più radicali del suo giorno, senza riferimento a qualsiasi realtà esterna.
