Si tratta di uno dei due dipinti del Grand Bazaar – realizzati nella mostra – di Preziosi, che ha spesso presentato scene di genere da İstanbul nel suo stile unico. L'artista ha incorporato scene diverse dal Bazaar in una serie di suoi dipinti. Questa sede, in particolare a İstanbul, è stata di grande interesse per gli artisti occidentali, e nelle parole di Edmondo de Amicis “non è solo un edificio ma una città”. Il Grand Bazaar, che ha ospitato negozi per una vasta gamma di beni commerciali e si è rivolto a quasi tutte le esigenze dei clienti, ha offerto un'incredibile ricchezza visiva e diversità all'artista occidentale. Una riflessione di questa opulenza è evidente anche nella pittura di Preziosi, che comprende numerosi dettagli della vita quotidiana.
